Jonas’s Birthday

My sweet little Jonas turned the big TWO this month and I have to say, celebrating someone you love so much is a lot of fun. Having my baby getting older is hard for me though. Time truly is a thief, and I know I am a broken record over here complaining about my kid’s getting older, but at the same time I am thrilled that he is growing and healthy. It’s mind blowing seeing him become into his own person and realizing how truly sweet and smart he is. Do I even dare say things are starting to get easier in general? Don’t get me wrong we still don’t get much sleep, there’s the regular toddler tantrums and we are daily begging him to eat, etc. But things got a lot easier once he started communicating and understanding things.

Things I don’t want to forget at this stage:

– His favorite person is daddy and nola (whatever kid, not that i feed you, do your laundry and watch you everyday, not bitter about this at all :))
– Sadly his favorite food is sweets (just like his sister) but that doesn’t mean he gets them regularly (actually some days it may mean that). However, he does ask for apples multiple times a day and also loves cucumbers and edamame.
– Jonas loves musical instruments, cars, trucks and tools. If anyone has tips on how you can make playing trucks more exciting and fun for toddler and mommy PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! (so so hard after awhile)
– He is sooo good at remembering words to songs (his favorite is: sun, sun mr golden sun), he can count to 3, and his favorite letter is ‘E’. If he’s watching sesame street and the letter of the day isn’t ‘E’ he get’s pretty upset, which is so cute and hilarious.
– He loves playing outside, but doesn’t love keeping on his gloves on.
– Jonas asks to be held like a baby and then pretends he is one, it’s so weird and adorable. He is our baby after all so I get it 🙂
– Nola is his best friend and he also loves to copy everything she does. I get it, she’s pretty cool, but you know, when she walks down the slide or jumps from one couch to the other, let’s just say we still need to keep an eye on that kid most of the time.

Last year we didn’t have a party so this time around we made sure to have a little celebration. It was so much fun gathering our family and friends to love on our boy. We had it at the Seventeen Radish and I can’t express how adorable of a place that is and how great of a venue it is for a little kid’s birthday party! They have such great toys and play stations that if you didn’t even want to have activities or games you wouldn’t have to at all! In fact after we had cake instead of opening gifts, like we had planned, we let the kids loose and let them keep on playing which they were more than happy to do.

Here’s some photos of the party if you care to see:

DSC_0157 DSC_0159 see that fruit bowl, i was dreaming about an acai bowl while putting that thing together 🙂 DSC_0180 we had to have marshmallows because, sadly yes, that is his favorite food DSC_0185 DSC_0186 DSC_0195 DSC_0219 if you ever come to a gammon birthday party, it’s a tradition to have a puppet show and I should mention cj does the best ones! DSC_0212 dance party!! DSC_0165 DSC_0220 copy can we talk about how handsome he is in his birthday crown and how excited i was that he kept it on!! later that day they played outside and he wore it over his stocking hat! DSC_0224 his shyness giving in after people started singing, bless!! DSC_0228 DSC_0237 DSC_0238 it was the sweetest seeing him hand out the gift bags to all his adorable friends!

Jonas is my snuggle bunny and will always and forever be my sweet little boy.  There’s so much to say about my boy and nothing I type will adequately describe the joy he brings our family and how thankful I am he is in our lives. I love you Jonas, I hope you always know that and feel loved by your family and friends all your life!!

Jonas at 20 Months

I need to just start out by saying Jonas has been my dream baby boy. For not thinking I even wanted a boy, goodness he is so much joy and proves that foolish thought was absolutely ridiculous everyday. Sure glad God knows what we need more than we do ourselves!

So here’s some things Jonas has been doing lately that I don’t want to forget:

– He LOVES trucks. It’s silly we didn’t push this on him, but yet he is all boy! He will make his food, rocks, anything he finds become a truck, he can be very resourceful.

– He takes one nap during the day, but having a new house being built right behind us is kind of messing with that lately.

– Jonas still thinks Nola is the bees knees, which she is. He wants to do everything she does, has, he loves her and really looks up to her!

– Following his daddy and sister he is becoming quite the sweet tooth lover. For instance he can pound one of those mini cupcakes in a minute. We monitor this of course, but this family if they could would eat sweets all day.

– Because of me being away from him in the evenings recently we decided to wean him and he’s doing really well so far, it’s only been day 3, but during the day he has become super clingy and not the happy Jonas I know. It makes me sad, but I think it’s just been a hard adjustment. I wasn’t too happy to be forced to wean not on my own terms, but I think this is best for now. Will this be the last time I ever breastfeed a baby!!! Crying over here!!!

– When he needs me or can’t find me he yells, “mom, mom, mom, mom” in his cute little voice and I kind of die. Only I do have discussions with him that since he’s only 20 months he can still call me ‘mommy’.

– We do netflix and the show that Jonas loves is Barney. Jonas calls it ‘Barbee’ it’s kind of the cutest and then I call it that and I’m pretty sure he will never know how to say it right. I know Barney got a bad rap, but I LOVE barney. They sing and dance and teach. Whatever dude, we are proud Barney fans over here.

– Now all the halloween stuff is out at the stores and Jonas is terrified of all of that (which you kind of don’t mind b/c then he snuggles you) but it’s gotten to the point where yesterday he was even scared to go by the nice bears in walgreens. Bless that sweet boys heart.

– I kind of love my alone time with Jonas while Nola is in school. Being a second kid and all he definitely deserves the undivided attention and I love giving it to him.

– Jonas is starting to be able to communicate so much more and that’s so much fun when we know he gets it. He loves reading books just as much as he likes knocking them off the book shelves these days.

– Guys 20 months is kind of the best and we are so in love with our little dude. Jonas I can’t imagine not knowing you and so thankful for you little guy!!

Jonas’s Monthly Photo Outtakes

When we took Jonas’s monthly photos, if Nola was around we also made sure to take some with her that I wanted to share, along with some pretty epic outtakes. I think these photos are a clearer representation to our lives right now and I love them all so much. One thing that’s pretty clear in these photos is the love those two have for each other. It’s pretty incredible to see their relationship grow and how young this love starts.

Here they are if you care to see:

Jonas’s Month to Month

If this isn’t a real-life mom post I don’t know what is. I tried, clearly not enough, but I did attempt to get an orchestrated photo of Jonas each month during his first year. I am embarrassed to say we got 9 out 12 months. Jonas if you are reading this when you are older just know this has no representation to how much we love and adore you, in fact we couldn’t be more obsessed with you. It’s funny because I have always complained that it felt like I had a little newborn baby for such a short amount of time and felt a little robbed of that time. Well it’s very clear from these photos I was correct. In fact Jonas goes from little baby to next month where it looks like he ate a baby. Ok, ok so I did miss a month here but to be fair that photo was more 1.5 months vs 2 full months apart. Regardless I adore this chunky most delectable baby.

1month 3months 4months 5months 6months 7months 9months 10months 12months

Hope you enjoy the photos. Can’t tell you thankful we are for our healthy growing little man. Just for fun HERE’s an old post of Nola’s first year of monthly photos, time why are you so mean!! Tomorrow I’m going to try to do a post with all the outtakes and the photos with Nola and Jonas. You will want to check these out because they are money.

Kids Update

Jonas – 8 Months

Our sweet boy is teething like a champ. I think I counted 3 new ones coming in along with his other 3 that already cut.

Remember when I was always saying this second kid thing isn’t very hard? 8 months is getting interesting. Jonas loves finding danger (it should be his middle name) in every possible way. He also will try to eat anything he finds. Nola never was like this so this is kind of freaking us out. You can’t take your eyes off the kid! We have daily scares and then I get this urge to clean frantically b/c this kid will find or get into anything (like toilets!!!).

Interestingly enough, though Jonas is the most adorable thriving-chunky baby, food isn’t his favorite. Sure he likes yogurt and cheerios, but veggies, fruit, meat…not so much.

Jonas has some pretty killer dance moves, shakes his head no, and gives kisses.

He is still a horrible sleeper, but since we co-sleep things aren’t as bad.

Still in size 4 diapers.

I try to get him to take 2 naps, but that’s not always consistent and depends on our schedule (nola’s mainly).

Jonas is a mama’s boy. When he’s tired it’s pretty hopeless to have someone else watch him. He loves his mama and I love that too (except when we want to go on a date). When we play he will regularly come and have me hold him one sec and then he’s ready to crawl and play. This action fills my heart because it seems like he’s giving me hugs and telling me ‘hey mama, I love ya!’

Oh and this is a big one, Jonas still is very easy going, but as of late he recently found his voice. If he’s frustrated or doesn’t like something he will let us know!!

Nola – 3 years old or threeanger

Nola…I can’t even tell you how much I love this girl. She’s sassy but has the sweetest heart…but age 3 is hard man!

School has been so great. I love her school so much which gives me a peace of mind. And having Nola being in a school setting has been such a great thing for thing. Her teacher says she’s doing great, so we are thankful for that!

She’s in dance class and it’s during the witching hour of 5 and that’s been hard. I will never, ever, ever do another class in the evening!

Nola rocked when we had Jonas, like surprisingly well. But I think we are starting to maybe see some behavior to his existence starting to play now?? Or it is just her being 3??? Regardless she is a huge Jonas lover and truly a good sister, her rebellious actions are more against her parents.

I cut her hair for the first time.

Nola loves wearing dresses, still loves tigers and her favorite food would be anything sweet (face palm). We are really careful monitoring how much candy and sweets she consumes and not going to lie dreading that part of the holidays.

I noticed when I give Nola my undivided attention and play with her or do something nice she will later tell me, “thanks for showing me that book mom” or “thanks for giving me that flower”. She is such a sweet heart and melts my heart when she tells me these things.

Nola is now really good on her scooter and it’s amazing how much more coordinated she is! She’s got the directional thing down, we just need to work on the brakes. One night she told cj, “I want to show mom my skillz”.

In this crazy world where we are all living different lives, something we all have in common is time. I know I’m not the only mom out there who hates how quickly our kids are growing up. And I’m sorry I keep on complaining about it over here, but truly it just makes me sad in so many different ways. But since I can’t stop time I also don’t want to waste my time feeling bummed about it all. Rather I’m trying my damnedest to just appreciate my two little kids and be in the moment with them as much as I can.
