Happy Birthday Nola Girl!!

It’s my little girl’s birthday today and I can’t help but feel a whole lot of panic and angst because she’s been here FIVE years already and frankly the time is going by too quick. But the emotion that trumps that is the love I feel for this girl. She is my #1 little buddy, she still is cool matching with me (thank you God!!!), she loves having a good time, an amazing sister to her overbearing 2 year old brother, smart, witty and I’ll say this every year but she’s the girl I always dreamed of having.

So in honor of my girl here she is on each of her birthdays:
the big ONE

We love you Nola and we are so proud of you. I’m so thankful I get to to be your mama!! xoxo

Nola’s 3rd Birthday

The fact that we now have a kid who’s three is beyond me.  Parents in the trenches with your wee little babies, hold on tight because you will blink and they will be three.  We are blown away by how much they change and grow in three years.  And as much as it makes me sad that she is no longer a baby at the same time it’s so-so fun seeing her in this phase as well. For quite some time Nola has wanted a tiger party and we were more than happy to make that happen.

This party was pretty small with family and it included pin the tail on the tiger, a puppet show, dance party and of course a tiger scavenger hunt. Here’s an onslaught of photos of that day if you care to see:

Clearly Nola had a good day and of course we all did as well.

It’s always fun to look back, so here’s Nola’s 1st birthday party and her 2nd birthday party.

Happy Birthday Nola Girl!

Today is our sweet girls 3rd birthday!!  These past three years have flown by and I can’t even handle it!  I was watching Nola at the playground one day and I was visioning her as a teenager and then a mom and it freaked me out!!  I am doing my very best at trying to relish this crazy, no sleep, no social, messy house, season in our lives because it’s going by too quickly.  I pretty much am furious with time, but at the same time I love and am so thankful that our kids are healthy.  Seeing them learn and grow is pretty amazing.

The following photos are from when we got our family photos professionally taken each year (with exception to the first photo taken at the hospital).  I love doing this because it’s so fun seeing how much our kiddos change!!

Nola’s First Birthday Party

For Nola’s First Birthday we decided to have a small party in the park.  Since it was going to be a smaller party it was fun taking the time to do handmade invites and thank you’s and I also decided to make all the food.  Of course I couldn’t have done it without help from friends that day.  Our dear friend brought the table and the swimming pool with the balls and another brought over the most delicious cookies and additional platters (so thankful for the friends we have here).  Since it was our first kid party we didn’t know really what we were doing, but overall I think it went ok!

Here are some photos of the day, if you’d like to see…

Our Girl is ONE!!!

I’m excited to tell you all that our girl turned ONE last week!  In many ways this first year as being parents has flown by, as most people would say.  But at the same it also seemed like this year was so jam packed with learning and experiencing so much, and lot of it just on our own, it seems like this year was long too.  And I don’t mean that in a bad way, I promise 🙂

Last year we moved to San Francisco in May and had Nola in July.  So to say it was a whirlwind is an understatement.  Honestly thinking about it makes me tired and I’m already a deprived mama from sleep the way it is!  Though It was our decision to move here and we don’t regret the opportunities or experiences, being far from a large support system with a child is REALLY hard.  So I also look at this year as a celebration and want to high five my guy because we did it!

To tell you how we feel for this child of ours is hard to put down in words.  Our universe shifted to a better place once she was put into our lives.  And can I tell you how fond I am of this little person, seriously, after she’s been sleeping for a couple of hours I start missing her and I can’t tell you how often we find ourselves looking at photos of her over and over again.  So yeah, we are a big fan.  I have to say I am beyond blessed and lucky to be this sweet girls mama.
