Jonas’s Birthday

My sweet little Jonas turned the big TWO this month and I have to say, celebrating someone you love so much is a lot of fun. Having my baby getting older is hard for me though. Time truly is a thief, and I know I am a broken record over here complaining about my kid’s getting older, but at the same time I am thrilled that he is growing and healthy. It’s mind blowing seeing him become into his own person and realizing how truly sweet and smart he is. Do I even dare say things are starting to get easier in general? Don’t get me wrong we still don’t get much sleep, there’s the regular toddler tantrums and we are daily begging him to eat, etc. But things got a lot easier once he started communicating and understanding things.

Things I don’t want to forget at this stage:

– His favorite person is daddy and nola (whatever kid, not that i feed you, do your laundry and watch you everyday, not bitter about this at all :))
– Sadly his favorite food is sweets (just like his sister) but that doesn’t mean he gets them regularly (actually some days it may mean that). However, he does ask for apples multiple times a day and also loves cucumbers and edamame.
– Jonas loves musical instruments, cars, trucks and tools. If anyone has tips on how you can make playing trucks more exciting and fun for toddler and mommy PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! (so so hard after awhile)
– He is sooo good at remembering words to songs (his favorite is: sun, sun mr golden sun), he can count to 3, and his favorite letter is ‘E’. If he’s watching sesame street and the letter of the day isn’t ‘E’ he get’s pretty upset, which is so cute and hilarious.
– He loves playing outside, but doesn’t love keeping on his gloves on.
– Jonas asks to be held like a baby and then pretends he is one, it’s so weird and adorable. He is our baby after all so I get it 🙂
– Nola is his best friend and he also loves to copy everything she does. I get it, she’s pretty cool, but you know, when she walks down the slide or jumps from one couch to the other, let’s just say we still need to keep an eye on that kid most of the time.

Last year we didn’t have a party so this time around we made sure to have a little celebration. It was so much fun gathering our family and friends to love on our boy. We had it at the Seventeen Radish and I can’t express how adorable of a place that is and how great of a venue it is for a little kid’s birthday party! They have such great toys and play stations that if you didn’t even want to have activities or games you wouldn’t have to at all! In fact after we had cake instead of opening gifts, like we had planned, we let the kids loose and let them keep on playing which they were more than happy to do.

Here’s some photos of the party if you care to see:

DSC_0157 DSC_0159 see that fruit bowl, i was dreaming about an acai bowl while putting that thing together 🙂 DSC_0180 we had to have marshmallows because, sadly yes, that is his favorite food DSC_0185 DSC_0186 DSC_0195 DSC_0219 if you ever come to a gammon birthday party, it’s a tradition to have a puppet show and I should mention cj does the best ones! DSC_0212 dance party!! DSC_0165 DSC_0220 copy can we talk about how handsome he is in his birthday crown and how excited i was that he kept it on!! later that day they played outside and he wore it over his stocking hat! DSC_0224 his shyness giving in after people started singing, bless!! DSC_0228 DSC_0237 DSC_0238 it was the sweetest seeing him hand out the gift bags to all his adorable friends!

Jonas is my snuggle bunny and will always and forever be my sweet little boy.  There’s so much to say about my boy and nothing I type will adequately describe the joy he brings our family and how thankful I am he is in our lives. I love you Jonas, I hope you always know that and feel loved by your family and friends all your life!!

2016 Halloween

Halloween is a pretty big deal around here. The fact that my kids get to dress up in a costume and people will give them CANDY…well that’s a good good day in their opinion. And frankly seeing how happy they are, it makes our day pretty great too.

This year Nola wanted to be a tiger again. At first we were encouraging and suggesting that she be something different. But she held strong and then we realized if this is what she wants why are we trying to change her mind? This is where I got lazy though and since Nola was going to be the same thing, my thinking was, ‘well then Jonas can wear the same costume too.’  But the day of Halloween I had mom guilt and frantically made him a firetruck costume because of his love of all things trucks. That was a mistake on my end because it made me really stressed that day and the anxiety didn’t subside until after the kids were sleeping?? I will be first to admit I have issues. And ultimately resulted in me not enjoying the night as much as I could have 🙁 . Jonas liked the truck, but he’s little, I’m sure he would have been just as excited being a tiger and mobility would have been 100x easier as well. Steps in that costume was HARD.

We really love our new neighborhood and feeling thankful these days, but that night we missed our old digs a bit. Our old neighborhood is a more established neighborhood and more dense so it just seemed easier to go trick or treating and was more action packed maybe? We may got 4 kids who came to our house after we got back and frankly that night kind of seemed anti-climatic??? But at the end of the day, Nola told us she had a super fun night, so regardless on how we felt I’m really glad she wasn’t feeling the same feels. Kids are really great like that.

Here’s some photos of the night if you care to see: dsc_0132 this was the past weekend when we carved our pumpkins. we feel pretty spoiled with all this amazing fall weather that is sticking around. we were actually able to carve our pumpkins outside this year!! and can i say i live for matching pajamas!!! dsc_0136 my little firetruck and tiger dsc_0145 the,’ok get this over with mom’ photo dsc_0153 his hat stayed on as long as it took to take this photo dsc_0159 dsc_0176 dsc_0177 dsc_0179 dsc_0181 dsc_0192 checking out their candy and the only night of the year where jonas will have candy for dinner, eeck!!

2016 Strawberry Picking

Hey guys, I go back and forth, I have so many posts I want to do…but I’m so behind I don’t know if I try to keep chipping away or just start fresh today and do things as they come. I’m not going to lie it’s hard doing posts from months ago and with life being so busy things keep getting pushed back even more. But it’s also fun because it brings you back to those fun moments…so we’ll see. But today I am doing an old post, because one of the best things about having a blog is looking back each year and seeing how the kids have grown doing something we do yearly.

Our family tradition of strawberry picking this year was awesome because I was able to meet my dad, aunts and some of my cousins. My love for strawberry picking did originate from my Grandma Stiemsma (my dad’s mom) so it only seemed appropriate that we all went picking together in her honor.

My cousin Katie who is an awesome photographer, incredible with kids and just a good egg was along and graciously had allowed me to post some of her photos here. Thank you so much Katie!

IMG_0764 i actually took this one (the only one, eeck!) aren’t they so sweet though!

Happy Father’s Day!

Here’s a shout out to my babies daddy. CJ thank you for being such a great dad to our kiddos!! All three of us love you so much! Both of our kiddos can’t wait to play with you when you are done with work. And Nola will regularly tell me how much she loves and misses you throughout the day and she only wants to go swimming with you (which is beyond ridiculous but at the same time adorable). And trust me when I say this everything you do for our family doesn’t go unnoticed.

Easter 2016

Easter was going strong this year in the G household. We were able to go to a couple of different Easter egg hunts, dye eggs, get spoiled with candy and treats and celebrate with family near and far. It was pretty adorable, Jonas liked finding the eggs and putting them in other people’s baskets, bless that sweet boy’s heart. Both kids are not a fan of the easter bunny however. In fact, CJ told Nola the easter bunny was coming to bring them their easter baskets and Nola told him she didn’t want him to come, which says a lot because that girl loves getting treats and gifts. But though all those activities were fun, I am so thankful for what Easter means to our family and God’s love and sacrifice that was made for us who are so undeserving.

Here’s some more photos of the kids if you care to see:

I loved seeing everybody’s Easter family photos and was bummed we never got one all together, oh well. My parents came in the evening and by that time I was already in my pajamas. We also didn’t get photos of the kiddos with their baskets, but trying to have moments where we don’t always need to have our phones on us and be snapping away, definitely a balancing act for sure. And for fun here is our 2014 and 2013 Easter. And last year we missed most of the fun Easter activities because we were in Florida.
